It’s a “C-D” Day!

Happy Birthday to Bailey Brydon and Emily Gilbert. Special birthday greetings to Mr. Matthew Killeen who celebrates today!

Are you missing Tupperware? Two containers were left in the Cafeteria last week. They are both clear plastic Tupperware with blue lids and have been in the office for quite a few days. We are sure some parent is missing these dishes and would like to have them back.

Today’s Highlights:

  • Emily Sibbick, please see Mrs. Killeen today.
  • All CSLC and Choir students with meat orders should make sure they are passed in today.
  • Any students who would like to participate in the poetry recitation contest should see Ms Burrows today during the first part of lunch in room 213.  Monday will be the last day to present.
  • Are you interested in running for president for next year’s Student Council? If so, today is the last day to submit your name to Ms. MacLeod.
  • SADD Bake Sale in the Cafeteria today at noon. Bring your loose change and support SADD.
  • The grad committee meeting is today at noon in Room 119.
  • Peer Helpers: Block Meetings are cancelled today.
  • The Cafeteria will not be open for afternoon break today.
  • Grade 10 English 421/431 students are continuing in resource-based learning stations in the library resource centre today as part of their orientation curriculum, with their course teachers and Mrs. Killeen. Library will be closed during A, B and C Blocks on these days to accommodate!

From the Library:

  • Library will be closed during A, B and C Blocks today.
  • Readers’ Circle will meet today at 12:05 in seminar room 106 of the Library. Bring your lunch…and a friend to join! New members welcome and encouraged!
  • Over 6 dozen new books have arrived in the library. Mrs. Killeen has them ready for you now!
    New authors include John Green, Ellen Hopkins, Joseph Boyden, Ken Follett, Gayle Forman, Veronica Roth, Junot Diaz, & David Richard Adams-just to name a few!! There are new graphic novels as well!
  • New Scholastic book orders for March have arrived and are available in the library. Please see Mrs. Killeen with any questions.

Athletic Department:

  • Congratulations to the Men’s Basketball team on a hard fought quarter final loss to TOSH on Tuesday night.
  • The Women’s Basketball team takes on Colonel Gray in the semifinals at Holland College at 2pm on Friday. Come out and cheer them on!
  • The MRHS Female Athlete of the Week is Alanna VanWiechen for good all around play in a win. Alanna was an offensive force and played good defense to help lead the team. 
  • Intramural Badminton: Tuesday and Thursday at 12:00 to 12:20 in the gymnasium.
  • The Power Lifting Team trains on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:15pm in the Fitness Centre.
  • Vikings & Red Rock Wrestling Clubs practice Monday and Wednesday 3:30 to 5:00 at Montague Consolidated.


  • Requests for the Friday song: Submit a copy of lyrics and your name to Ms. Dowd.
  • All students are responsible for Student Fees which are payable at the main office.

Student Services:

  • Holland College has extended their deadline for MRHS students.  Due to storms and visits cancelled, they will extend the deadline until March 6.  They will be here that day for one to one meetings where you can ask questions and hand in your application form, resume and fee.  Sign up in Student Services for an appointment.
  • Interested in Scholarship information at Holland College? Plan to attend an information session on March 6 at 11:45 in the Conference room of the Library.
  • Any students who are applying to Baytech College are eligible to apply for a $500 scholarship. Please see student services for more information
  • Reminder to students who are applying to UPEI that the scholarship deadline is March 1, 2014.  Don’t forget to apply for the John S. MacDonald Scholarship awarded only to a MRHS Graduate.

Public Service Announcement:

  • Montague High, along with other high schools across PEI will be participating in the 2014 Bluefield High School Friendship Hockey Tournament April 1-5, 2014. The committee is looking for any pieces of history related to High School Hockey-sweaters, jerseys, jackets, trophies etc. to be kept in the area in the CARI complex between the two rinks-hospitality rooms. If anyone in the Montague area would like to contribute to this display, please contact Earl Campbell at excampbell@edu.pe.ca to make arrangements.

Yearbook: The following people have missed the deadline for grad write-ups! If you have a submission for the yearbook, you MUST have your write up in by Thursday!
